[dropcap]A[/dropcap]more aerodynamic profile, lightweight aluminium architecture and an Ingenium diesel engine will combine to allow for carbon dioxide emissions as low as 114g/km in the all-new Jaguar XF.
The auto maker says that with this the all-new Jaguar XF will be the most efficient car in its class when it launches in February this year.
According to Lisa Mallett, Marketing and Communications Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa, “The XF is one of Jaguar’s most successful models ever. During development of the new model, our designers and engineers wanted to take everything customers loved about the XF and make it even better,”
Despite being lighter and more efficient, no sacrifices have been made in luxury and space.
She said the elegant, yet powerful exterior of the all-new Jaguar XF has been sculpted to reduce drag by 10% compared to the outgoing model. “Extensive use of aluminium – 75% of the chassis is made of the lightweight material – makes it up to 190kg lighter than its predecessor. Aerodynamic efficiency and weight savings have not been achieved through sacrificing interior space – the new XF boasts more leg-, head- and kneeroom than before.”
Jaguar’s 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine will also be available in the new XF. Ingenium diesel engine derivatives of the XF are currently available to order in SSA (Sub Saharan Africa) markets, and will be on showroom floors from May 2016.
Producing 132kW and 430Nm of torque, and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the XF can seamlessly accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in just 8.1 seconds. Combined consumption is just 4.3 litres per 100km, dipping to as low as 3.8 litres per 100km on the open road.
“Driving enjoyment ranks highly for our customers, and the new XF will not disappoint,” says Mallett. “It retains an excellent balance between sporty handling and excellent damping, allowing drivers to enjoy the best of both worlds.”
Jaguar’s trademark ride quality has been retained through the use of revised passive dampers that boast larger valves. Also available is the Jaguar Adaptive Dynamics system which uses electronically-controlled dampers to offer an even better balance between low-speed comfort and high-speed precision. Naturally, the lighter body will also improve agility in the new XF.
Using a double-wishbone front suspension layout, and an integral-link rear axle, the all-new Jaguar XF will be the dynamic benchmark in the business segment. Drivers will be able to use Jaguar’s configurable dynamics system to adjust the vehicle parameters to suit their tastes. The result is that the XF remains balanced and composed on the most demanding roads.
The all-new Jaguar XF goes on sale in sub-Sahara Africa in February 2016. Pricing will be announced at launch.
